Experimental determination of current carrying capacity for lanthanide tungsten electrodes

Abstract

The article describes main reasons of the loss of function of nonconsumable electrodes and the mechanism of local electrode overheating. The authors describes equipment, methods for conducting experiments to estimate current carrying capacity and gives results for lanthanide tungsten electrodes 1,0; 1,6; 2,0 mm in diameter.
