Account of pressure performance of the centrifugal pump by the numerical method

Abstract

Subject of inquiry was centrifugal single-stage pump BEN 221/1-OS for downloading petroleum derivatives. Authors carry out matching the passport and rated pressure pump characteristics obtained on the basis of the simplified theoretical procedure (of the basic equation centrifugal pumps) and numerical experiment (in the package of hydrodynamical simulation Fluent 6.1 by means of multigrid solver and a method of control volumes). The geometry of rated area, parameters of a grid and solver, physical models and boundary conditions, and also algorithm of buildup of the pressure head characteristics  represented. Outcomes of accounts in Fluent in a working range of feedings from 320 up to 620 m3/h well converge with nameplate data (in limits of 3%). However at small submission of a liquid where the actual pressure performance has a "dropping into" section, the discrepancy is augmented up to 36%. It is necessary to mark, that the performance obtained in numerical experiment qualitativly and quantitatively corresponds to the real, than theoretical better.
