Abstract

The paper discusses chemical stripping of heat-resistant Ni-Co-Cr-Al-ZrO2 coating from IN738LC nickel superalloy turbine blades after prolonged operation. The rate of the coating stripping increases when K2Cr2O7 and (NH4)6Mo7O24 are added to the base acidic solution, while the superalloy surface passivates due to Cr3+ ions influence. The most effective stripping solution contains 160 g/l K2Cr2O7 and 30 g/l (NH4)6Mo7O24. Main features of the stripping the different parts of the blade and efficiency evaluation for the recommended solution are also presented in the paper.
