The research of Graflex material and «cold» sealing technology of gas turbine engine?s surface discharge spark plugs application for the automation of manufacturing process

Abstract

The problems of spark plugs sealing for gas turbine engines (GTE) are considered. The investigation of thermally-expanded graphite (Graflex) use as a sealing material was carried out. The production and experiments results of the newly designed spark plugs and assemblies with the application of new material according to developed technology are presented. It was established that proposed spark plug production technologies based on the Graflex sealing allow to mechanize and to automate the process of plug ware manufacture.
