Abstract

The effect of low-temperature ion nitriding regimes on the structure and properties of the titanium alloy VT6 is studied. The microhardness distribution curves for the depth of the modified layer at various temperatures and holding time are obtained. It is established that the depth of the nitrided layer depends on the processing temperature. The results of measuring residual stresses in the surface layer of samples after low-temperature ion nitriding are presented. It is established that nitriding in a glow discharge at low temperatures leads to a change in the sign of the residual stresses on the compressive ones.
