Abstract

Problem of optimal design of four-stroke piston engine tract is solved. Parametric optimization is performed for the case of profiled inlet and outlet channels, and resulted in estimated value of theoretical upper limit of the volumetric efficiency (1.426). Numerical simulation of gas exchange process was carried out using quasi-one-dimensional model implemented for the software package ALLBEA. Optimization with constraints was performed using multi-parametric optimization tool of ALLBEA which is based on genetic algorithm. The tools used and the recommendations given are applicable to design and development of piston engines.
