Improvement of control methods of resource consumption of gas turbine engine basic parts

Abstract

Owing to the fail in considering actual operation conditions, excess conservatism is inherent in methods of resource monitoring used nowadays. Whereby there comes premature exclusion of engines from operation that is economically unprofitable and has a negative impact on maintenance of required combat readiness level of the aircraft fleet. In the context of the disks compressor and turbine  of the 4th generation engine, it is shown that the existing technique for monitoring the resource consumption by low-cycle fatigue of the 4th generation GTE basic parts has assumptions that lead to a decrease in accuracy of determining the accumulated damage and the residual life of the engine and its main parts, which in turn leads to an early removal of a serviceable engine and an increase in the life cycle cost. To avoid the excessive conservatism of the currently used technique, it is necessary to accumulate the cyclic damage of the engine basic parts taking into account real flight conditions.
