Influence of the ultrafine-grained structure on the fatigue fracture behavior of an aluminum alloy of the Al-CuMg system

Abstract

The effect of ultrafine-grained structure on the character of destruction of an aluminum alloy sistem AlCu-Mg (AK4-1) after fatigue tests was studied. Ultrafinegrained structure was obtained by the method of severe plastic deformation - equal-channel angular pressing, which allowed to increase the strength and fatigue properties of the material by 20%. Fatigue tests were carried out under the tension-compression scheme. The study of fatigue fractures was carried out by scanning electron microscopy. Small differences in the fractures of the structures under investigation were revealed.
