Mechanical properties and internal stress level of Ti-TiN and Ti-TiVN multilayer Arc-PVD coatings for parts made of titanium alloys

Abstract

The article discusses the enhancement of the operational properties of Ti-6Al-4V alloy by complex hardening, including electrolyte-plasma polishing, ion implantation of N+ and deposition of ion-plasma nitride coatings Ti-TiN and Ti-TiVN by Arc-PVD technique. The mechanical properties of the coatings were studied by the Scratch-test method, the adhesive strength was evaluated, and the values of residual (internal) stresses were established.
