Abstract

In this paper, we propose a refined approach to calculating the hydraulic resistance to the flow of a viscous fluid in a flat channel with a stepwise narrowing under an external local thermal effect. Sufficiently intense heating or cooling leads to the need to take into account the change in fluid viscosity depending on temperature. Thus, the change in the flow structure during the transition from a wider part of the channel to a narrower one is superimposed on the inhomogeneity of the viscosity distri-bution, which ultimately leads to a change in the hydraulic resistance. As a result of numerical studies, the dependences of the hydraulic resistance coefficient on the thermal viscosity parameter for various linear dimensions of the heating section were constructed.
