The UFG structure and mechanical properties of the Mg1%Ca magnesium alloy

Abstract

The structure and properties of an Mg-1%Ca alloy processed by HPT are investigated. Microstructure is studied by TEM, SEM. An enhanced microhardness of 100 HV is observed in the HPT samples due to an uniform microstructure with a grain size of 210 nm. After additional annealing at 250 оC, the HPT samples demonstrates an UTS of 245 MPa  with a ductility of 4%.
