Automated forming of standard structure elements of airframe model in NX

Abstract

When designing electrical mock-up in design engineering bureau one of the most labor-intensive process is to create standard structure elements of airframe model. This research goal is to develop software to automate design procedures for standard structure elements in NX. The software includes program of automated forming of circular reinforcements, program of automated forming of flanging, program of automated forming of chamfer and program of automated blending of ribbing. The program of automated blending of ribbing supports recognition algorithm to find ribs. The applications ensure the following advantages: decreasing the total designer's workload when plotting airframe structure models, better modeling quality thanks to the use of a certain typical plotting procedure and generation of designer’s knowledge base.
